3/17/2024 0 Comments Cost to replace transmissionI suppose it could be a cracked oil pump or something (guess) if it only reduced the oil pressure and if first doesn't need as much oil pressure as other gears. This pretty much leaves the only fault possibilities to be a crack in the housing somewhere internally such that oil pressure was lost on certain pathways (guess). I doubt it could have been a failed oil pump, or 1st would not have engaged. Can't have been the ECU as that was not changed, which pretty much leaves hydraulics as the problem imo. They did change the valve block and solenoids, which rules them out. That ties in with the symptoms I had on the road (Would move away in 1st, try to change to 2nd and then spaz out and cut drive to the wheels). Sounds to me like the clutches were not engaging (But 1st was). The codes that they recorded on the invoice were "2nd gear ratio incorrect", "3rd gear ratio incorrect", "4th gear ratio incorrect", "Reverse gear ratio incorrect" etc. I have asked to be in the loop on the findings, but I don't think even the Canada Tech Rep is savvy to the results, though I have been asking.Īs for the failure mode. The transmission did actually get sent back to Japan. Before my company sends out new hardware we have prices to repair or replace it. I have been nice with my inquiries and understanding because the car is so new, however I do find it ridiculous a car dealership does not have this information prior to having the car on the lot. It should come as no shocker to a car dealership some one wants to know everything about a new car. Maybe it is different where you guys live but around here customer service is usually top notch and expected to go above and beyond. Going off of the repair price for a "half skyactiv" engine, prices could easily be double to replace the "full skyactiv" engine so I will not base my -could be- costs off of technology that was not fully complete. I have researched the prices to fix similar technology on the prior generation Mazda 3 and the generation before that but because nothing is exactly the same, prices will vary and technology has changed. Hell I still have a functional Sega Genesis from my childhood! Everything I have ever bought with a warranty, I have never used the warranty. I want to know the price to fix technology I am unfamiliar with, is that such a bad thing? More than likely if anything were to ever go wrong with my car it will be far outside of warranty as I do not drive my car like a bat out of hell. I really don't ever want to have to replace or fix anything. You know, I have never had to replace a tranny or engine in any car I have ever owned, only ever a clutch and that was because the car had been abused for 5 years before I got it. Again, they've probably never had to replace one, and it sounds like you've been harassing them about things that you don't even need, so I doubt they're going to go out of their way to do research for you unless it's just to shut you up. Find out the cost of a sensor, and there's your answer. If the whole thing dies, you need a new computer (unlikely), otherwise one of the sensors is dead and you'll need a sensor replaced. If you want to mentally prepare yourself, or start saving up for it or something, there's your goal.Īs for the BSM system, it's a couple sensors tied to the computer. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more, but rarely way outside that realm. How do I know that? Because that's what pretty much every car costs. You want a ballpark of what it will cost to replace the transmission? 3000 dollars. The car has been out for what, six months? They probably have no idea what it will cost because they've never had to do it, and if they have, the cost was completely covered by the manufacturer. Look, it's not a vast conspiracy to keep information from you. I usually go for the more probable situations (windshield, tires, lights ect). I am OK with that, I have a "car account" where I store x amount of money for "just in case" situations. Granted, at the time things need replaced prices may be drastically different. I like to know things that half the people don't think about until they are forced to. I would honestly love a pricing list to repair every piece of this car. Makes me worry it is super expensive to the point of when it goes out I may as well just buy a new car. Being as even my dealer cannot (wont?) tell me the price to replace the Blind spot monitoring system. Personally I like looking into the future and preparing. Every technology will EVENTUALLY fail, rather it be because of poor maintenance or time or stupid friends. Its that no one I talk to even has a ball park price for WHEN these things do need to be replaced. Its not that I am "so into replacing transmissions". I have never read so many horror stories in such a short time.
